The Patrick-Murray administration’s
Massachusetts Film Office said today the Indian Paintbrush Production
film “Labor Day,” starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin, will begin
filming in the Bay State next month.
The movie, written and directed by Jason Reitman of “Up in the Air”
and “Juno” fame, is based on Joyce Maynard’s novel by the same name.
Indian Paintbrush Productions will finance the film and produce with Mr.
Mudd and Right of Way Films. Paramount Pictures will distribute the
film.
State economic development and film office officials said they led
two sales missions to Los Angeles in 2011 in an effort to bring more
film and television work to the Commonwealth.
The MFO added that P3 Update Magazine recently ranked Massachusetts
in the Top 10 locations worldwide and that Boston was named the top city
for film production in the United States last year. In 2011, feature
films shot in the state generated an aggregated spending of $222 million, according to Department of Revenue estimates.
